The virtues of the Taylormade brand are well documented, but it’s fair to say that bags isn’t an area of the game where they are particularly dominant. The PureLite is an interesting little number though. Because of the very square top, it probably won’t be winning any beauty pageants in the near future.
But it uses its 4.9 pounds pretty efficiently, and the more I noticed things like the custom embroidery ball pocket, nylon-webbing trunk handle, and, best of all, the anti-split stand system, the more it began to grow on me.

Our Assessment
As the name says, it light – and that’s a crucial box to tick for any carry bag. They’re also hyping up the new ‘contoured ergonomic’ shoulder strap. Maybe it’s marketing mumbo-jumbo, but either way, she’s a pretty comfortable bet.
It isn’t the most stylish bag on the market (not least the grey/green color combo – oh dear!), and it doesn’t have the quality feel of some of its peers. But it’s available at a good price, and I think this bag will attract a lot of interest among the mid-to-high handicappers.

Taylormade PureLite Stand Bag Detailed Review
Weight and Comfort
In the immortal words of Verne Lundquist, “Yes sir!” Okay fine, so those words stirred greater emotions when Nicklaus holed that putt at Augusta in ’86 compared with describing how much a golf bag weighs.
But TaylorMade have nonetheless nailed it in this regard.
Any bag can be light, but it’s important to ensure that it still has everything you need, and the Purelite just about strikes that balance.
As for comfort, well, the ergonomic shoulder strap is a winner and offers plenty of cushion. As does the EVA-moulded hip pad. It’s akin to carrying a cloud, I promise.
Build Quality
This is where I have to pull the handbrake up a bit in terms of my enthusiasm. It’s fine. In fact, if the so-called anti-crush construction does what it says on the tin, then it’s probably better than fine.
But there are a few exceptional bags out there that when you put them on your shoulders, you feel like a million bucks. I would be lying if I said the Purelite was one of them.
Value for Money
Back to the good stuff now. Shop around a bit and you’ll probably be able to pick up a decent version of this bad boy for as little as $150, and that’s very competitive no matter which way you spin it.
Yes, I know – I always preach that cheap doesn’t necessarily equal good value.
But this is a bag with a lot going for it, and will appeal to a populous sector of the golfing market.
If you’re after style and class, this probably isn’t the perfect bag for you.
But if you’re after something that does the job, is light, and is available at a snip, then our Taylormade Purelite Stand Bag Review may be the place to start (and end) your search.
