Question 1

Q1. Which bikepacking bags do I actually need for a first overnight trip?

Accepted Answer

Start with a 4–6 litre frame bag for tools and food, an 8–15 litre saddle roll-top for a sleeping liner and clothing, and a 15–20 litre handlebar dry sack for the sleeping bag. This 3-bag core covers most single-night bikepacking without a rack, and keeps your load to roughly 30 litres.

Question 2

Q2. What is the 3-bag system in bikepacking?

Accepted Answer

The 3-bag system is frame + saddle + handlebar bags mounted directly on the bike. It replaces racks and panniers, keeps weight between the wheels, and is the standard lightweight setup for off-road bikepacking.

Question 3

Q3. How many litres of storage do I need for bikepacking?

Accepted Answer

An overnight trip needs about 30 litres of bag capacity; a multi-day expedition needs 40–60 litres. Frame bags hold 4–8 litres, saddle roll-tops 8–20 litres, and handlebar rolls 8–15 litres.

Question 4

Q4. Which bikepacking bag should I buy first?

Accepted Answer

Buy the frame bag first for tools and spares, then a handlebar roll for bulk, then a saddle bag for clothing — or choose a ready-made set for a matched, lower-cost bundle.

Question 5

Q5. Frame bag vs saddle bag — what is the difference?

Accepted Answer

A frame bag sits inside the bike's main triangle and carries heavy items at the center of gravity (4–8 L); a saddle bag hangs under the seat for clothing and later gear (8–20 L, usually roll-top). Use both for a full setup.

Question 6

Q6. Are bikepacking bags waterproof?

Accepted Answer

Quality bikepacking bags are water-resistant but vary in waterproof depth: TPU-welded bags and dry-bag rolls are fully submersible-proof, while PU-coated 1680D/900D nylon with taped seams resists heavy rain and mud. Specify your climate to choose the right build.

Question 7

Q7. What material is best for a bikepacking saddle bag?

Accepted Answer

1680D ballistic nylon with a TPU or PU coating and taped rally seams is the industry standard — it resists abrasion from brush and saddlery while staying waterproof. Lighter 900D is fine for three-season road use; heavier 1680D or welded TPU suits alpine and mud.

Question 8

Q8. How do I measure a frame bag for my bike?

Accepted Answer

Measure the distance along the top tube, down tube and seat tube where the bag will mount, and note the width of the front triangle. Different bikes need different templates, which is why custom frame bags are sized per build.

Question 9

Q9. Can a top tube bag fit on any bike?

Accepted Answer

Most top tube bags fit standard round and oval top tubes with dual straps, but confirm your tube length and whether you need clearance for cables. We can add a cable-management slot for a clean run.

Question 10

Q10. What is a roll-top bikepacking bag?

Accepted Answer

A roll-top bag closes by folding the top over 2–3 times and clipping it, creating a waterproof seal. It is the standard closure for saddle bags and handlebar dry rolls because it keeps rain and mud out without a zipper vulnerability.

Question 11

Q11. How much does a custom bikepacking frame bag cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on size, material and order volume. As a factory we price by design and MOQ (500 pieces); contact us with your spec for a quote — sampling is 6–10 days and the sample fee is refunded on your first order.

Question 12

Q12. What is the minimum order quantity for custom bikepacking bags?

Accepted Answer

Our MOQ is 500 pieces per design for custom bikepacking bags. Bulk production takes 35–50 days after sample approval, and final QC is done to AQL 2.5.

Question 13

Q13. How long does sampling and bulk production take?

Accepted Answer

Pre-production samples take 6–10 days; bulk production takes 35–50 days after you approve the sample. We then run AQL 2.5 final random inspection before packing and shipping.

Question 14

Q14. Can I get my own logo on custom bikepacking bags?

Accepted Answer

Yes — logo, print, color, size, hardware and packaging are all customizable through our private-label OEM/ODM service, so your bikepacking line looks fully branded on shelf.

Question 15

Q15. Are bikepacking bags suitable for e-bikes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Frame bags sized for the front triangle work on e-bikes, but confirm the extra battery/controller space and weight; we can adapt templates and reinforcement for heavier electric builds.

Question 16

Q16. What is the difference between bikepacking bags and panniers?

Accepted Answer

Bikepacking bags strap directly to frame, saddle and bars for off-road stability; panniers mount on racks, carry more volume and suit road touring. Bikepacking bags keep weight centered and let you ride technically; panniers excel on load-heavy paved trips.

Question 17

Q17. Can I order mixed frame, saddle and handlebar bags as one set?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Ordering a matching frame + saddle + handlebar set from one factory lets you control materials, colors and logo consistently, and usually gets you better per-piece pricing and a single production and shipping schedule.

Question 18

Q18. What certifications or quality checks apply to custom bikepacking bags?

Accepted Answer

We run AQL 2.5 final inspection on every order and can provide material and test documentation on request for your market compliance. Custom fabric, coating and hardware are reviewed against your target region's requirements before production.
