Repairing scuffs and scratches in leather bags – JUNYUAN Bags

When a horrible scuff or scratch occurs on the leather seat on the left, a discolored area and color loss in the leather follow. Contrary to common assumptions, however, the answer to this problem is very straightforward. Fortunately, a few simple materials and the strategies below may alleviate the stress associated with scuffs and scratches on one’s clothing and helps in leather scratch repair.

Repairing leather scuff and leather  scratches with this method

Step 1 Decorate the workspace

  • First, like with any high-quality leather repairs and restorations, it is critical to ensure that the area being repaired or restored is free of dirt and impurities before proceeding.
  • Apply the Leather Prep Pad to the area and wipe it clean thoroughly with the leather thong.
  • Allow for natural drying for about 5-10 minutes once the site has been thoroughly cleansed.

Step 2 Patch the floor with rough sanding

  • Because the scuff, in this case, was very abrasive to the touch, it’s typically best to sand the rough portions down when dealing with damaged areas that are incredibly abrasive to the touch.
  • Carefully sand the area using 1200 grit sandpaper until it feels smooth to the touch, then repeat the procedure. As a result, the finished product will have a more professional appearance.

Step 3 Complete the application filler

  • It is necessary to fill in the areas where the leather has been lost after the rough areas have been removed to get the best possible result.
  • Excess Heavy Filler should be wiped away after application to the area of damage using the Spatula provided. Allow the Heavy Filler to cure for a few minutes after application.
  • Apply small layers of filler to the leather as required, using this technique, until the stuffing is flush with the leather’s surrounding surface. Depending on the extent of the damage, a single layer may be adequate, or many layers may be necessary. Make sure to give enough time for the filler to dry completely before starting with the repair; failing to do so will result in a lower-quality repair in the long run.

Step 4 Determine the level of the SANDFILLER

  • It is necessary to sand the filler to the same level as the leather surface when it has dried to a sufficient degree.
  • To guarantee that the filler is perfectly level with the leather, sand it down with 1200-grit sandpaper to the leather’s surface as you did earlier.

Step 5 Apply the colorant to the surface

  • It comprises a fixed quantity of colorant, several tints, and a guide to color matching in addition to a color matching guide. To get a perfect match for your leather color, start with a standard colorant and tint it as needed, following the manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Once a suitable match has been achieved, it is just a question of applying a tiny amount of the matched colorant to the area to be repaired, ensuring that the whole area is covered with the paint. Finish by blow-drying the product once it has been applied.
  • To completely cover the damage, apply as many thin layers as are required, using the same application and drying techniques as previously stated.
  • Once applied, the repair will become scuff and scratch resistant due to built-in sealers in the colorant used in this kit.

Conclusion

Scuffs and scratches may be repaired quickly and economically using a few everyday objects and following a simple technique, as shown in the after photo on the far left.
