Looking for a custom camera bag manufacturer? Junyuan Bags has been producing bags since 2014 — our founder has worked in the bag industry since 2004 — and today we manufacture private-label camera bags, camera inserts, and hard cases for camera accessory brands, photo specialty retailers, rental companies, and promotional distributors in North America, Europe, and Australia. Every bulk order is inspected to AQL 2.5 major / 4.0 minor, with MOQ 500 pieces per style, sampling in 6–10 business days, and mass production in 35–50 days. Combined capacity across our affiliated and partner factories covers programs from 500 to 50,000 pieces per style, quoted within 24–48 hours of a complete specification.

Why camera brands source their bags from us:

  • ✓ Protection engineering first — foam grade, divider layout, and shell stiffness specified per camera body and lens combination, not chosen from a catalogue
  • ✓ Complete range — shoulder bags, slings, camera backpacks, rolling cases, padded inserts, lens pouches, battery and card wallets, and molded EVA hard cases
  • ✓ Insert-first development — we can engineer the padded insert alone so it drops into a bag you already sell
  • ✓ AQL 2.5 major / 4.0 minor inspection — foam compression, divider hook-and-loop cycling, zipper cycling, seam pull strength, and hardware corrosion tested on every batch
  • ✓ Direct manufacturer pricing — you work with the production team, not a trading layer
  • ✓ Low entry point — 500 pieces per style, up to three colorways mixed in one order

What Is a Custom Camera Bag and Who Buys Them?

A custom camera bag is a bag engineered around specific camera and lens dimensions, with the padding, divider system, opening direction, and carry system designed for that gear rather than adapted from a general-purpose bag. In practice it means the internal cavity is drawn to the exact body-plus-lens footprint, the foam is selected by impact requirement, and the exterior is built in your material, color, hardware, and branding.

The category is bought by four main groups. Camera accessory brands and photo specialty retailers order private-label shoulder bags and backpacks to complete a branded line next to tripods, straps, and filters. Rental houses order hard cases and rolling bags where stackability and drop protection matter more than weight. E-commerce sellers order padded camera inserts that convert any tote or daypack into a camera carrier — a lighter SKU with a lower shipping cost. Promotional and corporate distributors order branded camera bags for photo-industry events, dealership programs, and staff kits.

Because the buyer is usually a photographer, the specification conversation is unusually technical. Internal dimensions must clear a body with a lens mounted, the lid must open away from the wearer’s chest, dividers must be reconfigurable without tools, and the zipper must not scratch the camera when the bag is loaded on a table. Those four points decide whether a bag is used daily or resold — which is why we build the insert first and the shell second.

Camera Bag Types Compared

The table below shows the formats we produce most often, with the protection package each one normally carries. Every column is adjustable: dimensions, foam grade, and closure type are set by your gear list.

Camera Bag Interior Protection: Padding, Dividers & Inserts

Protection is the only feature a photographer cannot compromise on, and it is decided almost entirely inside the bag. We specify three variables together: foam density, foam thickness, and how the load is divided.

Foam grades and where they are used

  • 8 mm PE foam, 25 kg/m³ — light protection for slings and lens pouches where weight matters
  • 10–12 mm EVA laminated to 210D lining — the default for shoulder bags and inserts; holds shape and resists compression set
  • 15–20 mm EVA with a PE outer layer — backpacks and rolling cases carrying multiple bodies
  • 3–5 mm molded EVA shell with die-cut foam — hard cases where the shell takes the impact and the foam locates the gear
  • Neoprene 3 mm — lens pouches and wrap-style protection where stretch fit is preferred

Divider systems

Standard configuration is hook-and-loop dividers with a foam core and a soft brushed face, arranged in a grid the buyer can re-partition. We produce full-length dividers, short dividers, and fold-over “U” dividers so a single insert can hold either two bodies or one body plus a long telephoto. Divider faces are brushed polyester or velvet-touch tricot; the loop panel is stitched to the lining and bar-tacked at the corners so it does not peel after repeated reconfiguration.

Insert-first development

If you already sell a tote, backpack, or handbag, the fastest route to a camera SKU is a standalone insert: we draw the insert to your bag’s internal dimensions, add a lid or a top drawcord, and deliver a drop-in padded unit with its own handle. It ships flat-packed, needs no tooling on your side, and turns an existing style into a camera product at 500 pieces.

Materials & Construction Quality

Camera bags are abrasion-and-load products, so shell material is chosen for scuff resistance and shape retention rather than fashion alone. The table compares the options we run most often.

MaterialWeight / gaugeProtection & durabilityWeather resistanceTypical use
PU leather1.2–1.6 mmHigh shape retention, premium hand-feelWater-repellent finish, not waterproofShoulder bags, premium retail lines

Neoprene3–5 mmShock absorbing, stretch fitWater-resistantLens pouches, wraps
TPU film laminate0.3–0.5 mmLight, tear resistantWaterproofRain covers, wet-weather shells

Construction follows the load path. Shoulder-bag strap anchors are box-X stitched into a reinforced panel rather than sewn to the shell alone. Backpack harness attachment points get bar-tacks plus a PE board behind the lining. Base panels are doubled and, on rolling cases, supported by a molded foot or a riveted skid. Zippers are #8 or #10 nylon coil with reverse-slider options on main compartments; on bags where the camera is loaded over an open zip, we add a binding tape and a foam zip guard so the slider never contacts the body. Stitch density runs 8–10 stitches per inch with bonded nylon thread, and all cut edges inside the cavity are bound rather than left raw.

Customization, Branding & Private Label

Every element below is set per order, and none of them changes the MOQ structure: one style, 500 pieces, up to three colorways mixed.

  • Dimensions — external and internal drawn to your gear list, in centimeters or inches
  • Colors — shell, lining, zipper tape, binding, webbing, and hardware matched to Pantone or approved lab dips
  • Logo methods — silkscreen, heat transfer, rubber patch, woven label, metal plate, embossed or debossed leather patch, and interior lining print
  • Hardware — matte black, gunmetal, brushed nickel, antique brass, and light gold; D-rings, swivel hooks, and lockable sliders
  • Interior organization — battery and card wallets, filter pockets, memory card sleeves, pen loops, and a hidden passport or document pocket
  • Carry system — padded shoulder strap with a non-slip panel, removable harness, trolley sleeve, tripod straps, and a waist belt
  • Packaging — branded poly bag, retail box, hangtag, dust bag, and set boxes for multi-piece kits

For private label, we produce under your brand only: no third-party markings on the product, on the packaging, or on the carton. Artwork proofs are issued before sampling, and a physical pre-production sample is approved in writing before bulk starts.

How to Order Custom Camera Bags

The process runs in five steps and typically completes in 41–60 days from a confirmed specification.

  1. Specification — send your gear list (bodies, lenses, accessories), preferred format, material, quantity, logo method, and target retail price. We return a quotation within 24–48 hours with a proposed foam package.
  2. Artwork and drawing — we issue a dimensioned drawing and an artwork proof for approval, including logo placement, hardware finish, and label positions.
  3. Sampling — a physical pre-production sample is built in 6–10 business days. Sample cost is charged at material and labor value and is offset against the bulk order once the 500-piece MOQ is confirmed.
  4. Bulk production — 35–50 days after written sample approval, depending on quantity, material, and the number of logo steps.
  5. Inspection and shipping — AQL 2.5 major / 4.0 minor inspection with a photo and measurement report, then carton marking and shipment by sea, air, or express, or FBA-ready prep.

Compliance & Documentation

Camera bags ship into retail and marketplace channels, so documentation is prepared alongside the goods rather than after the fact. We work with REACH-compliant, AZO-free, and phthalate-free materials and can supply material declarations, heavy-metal and phthalate screening statements for California Proposition 65 programs, color fastness reports, and hardware salt-spray results. Where a program requires it, we also provide a signed compliance declaration per shipment and lot-level traceability for shell fabric and foam.

Quality Control & AQL 2.5 Inspection

Inspection is built into the schedule, not added at the end. Inline checks run at cutting, at the insert assembly stage, and at final packing; the pre-shipment inspection applies AQL 2.5 for major defects and 4.0 for minor defects. The checklist covers:

  • Internal and external dimensions against the approved drawing
  • Foam thickness and compression recovery after 24 hours of load
  • Divider hook-and-loop cycling — 500 open-and-close cycles on a sampled divider
  • Zipper cycling and slider smoothness, including reverse-slider main compartments
  • Seam pull strength at strap anchors, handle attachments, and base panels
  • Stitch density and thread trimming
  • Hardware plating appearance and salt-spray performance
  • Logo registration, placement tolerance, and adhesion
  • Color match against the approved lab dip under standard light
  • Packing accuracy, carton drop test, and carton marking

Field use decides the design: opening direction, divider layout, and strap comfort are specified for real shooting conditions

Camera Bags for Retail, Rental & Promotional Programs

Different channels need different bags, and the specification shifts accordingly. Retail lines need shelf presence, a clean logo, and a retail box; the protection package is specified to the camera tier the retailer sells. Rental and institutional buyers need stackable hard cases with die-cut foam, replaceable dividers, and a label window, because the bag is handled by many users and must survive airport handling. Promotional programs need a low unit cost, a large logo area, and a shorter carry strap, and often accept a lighter foam package.

For e-commerce sellers, the insert and pouch formats are usually the better first SKU: lighter shipping weight, lower carton cube, and no sizing risk on the shell. Many of our clients launch an insert and a lens pouch first, then add a shoulder bag once the first container sells through.

Why Work With Junyuan Bags?

We are a bag manufacturer established in 2014, with our founder in the bag industry since 2004, and our production is concentrated in the categories we know best: golf bags, backpacks, travel bags, and technical camera and gear carriers. That focus is why a camera bag brief does not get translated into a generic tote with foam glued inside — the insert is drawn by the same team that builds the shell.

  • Protection engineering included — foam grade and divider layout proposed with the quotation, not sold as an upgrade
  • One accountable team — sampling, bulk, inspection, and documentation handled by the same production group
  • 500-piece entry — a first order that fits a launch plan without heavy inventory risk
  • Consistent specification — approved sample, approved lab dip, and approved drawing are the reference for every reorder
  • Realistic lead times — 6–10 days sampling and 35–50 days bulk, quoted against the actual material and logo steps

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a custom camera bag?
A custom camera bag is a bag engineered around specific camera and lens dimensions, with the padding, divider system, opening direction, and carry system designed for that gear. The internal cavity is drawn to the exact body-plus-lens footprint, the foam is selected by impact requirement, and the exterior is built in your material, color, hardware, and branding at a minimum of 500 pieces per style.
What is your MOQ for custom camera bags?
Our MOQ is 500 pieces per style. Up to three colorways may be mixed within one style and one order. For multi-piece kits, the MOQ applies to the total piece count of the set. First orders can be discussed case by case if your launch plan is smaller.
How long does sampling and bulk production take?
Sampling takes 6–10 business days after your specification and artwork are confirmed. Bulk production then takes 35–50 days depending on quantity, material complexity, and the number of logo steps involved.
Can I get a sample before placing a bulk order?
Yes. Samples are charged at material and labor value and the sample fee is offset against your bulk order once the MOQ is confirmed. We recommend approving a physical sample so you can verify foam density, divider configuration, zipper smoothness, and strap comfort with your own camera gear before production.
What padding do you use for camera bag interiors?
We specify foam by impact requirement: 8 mm PE foam for slings and lens pouches, 10–12 mm EVA laminated to lining for shoulder bags and inserts, 15–20 mm EVA with a PE outer layer for backpacks and rolling cases, and 3–5 mm molded EVA shells with die-cut foam for hard cases. Neoprene at 3–5 mm is used where a stretch fit is preferred.
Can you make a camera insert that fits a bag we already sell?
Yes, and it is usually the fastest route to a camera SKU. Send the internal dimensions of your tote, backpack, or handbag and the gear the insert must hold. We draw the insert to that cavity, add hook-and-loop dividers and a lid or top drawcord, and deliver a drop-in padded unit with its own handle, flat-packed, at 500 pieces.
Which materials do you recommend for camera bags?
For retail shoulder bags, PU leather at 1.2–1.6 mm or 600D polyester with PVC backing. For backpacks and rolling cases, 900D–1000D nylon for abrasion resistance. For heritage lines, 16–18 oz waxed canvas. For recycled-content targets, 600D RPET. For hard cases, molded EVA at 3–5 mm. All are available with water-repellent or waterproof finishing as required.
Are your camera bags weather-resistant?
Standard shells are water-resistant through PU or PVC backing and a water-repellent finish on the face fabric. For full waterproofing we use TPU film lamination with sealed or bound seams, and we can add a stowable rain cover in matching or contrasting fabric. We will state the exact rating basis in the quotation so your product copy stays accurate.
Can you add a tripod holder, trolley sleeve, or hydration sleeve?
Yes. Tripod straps can be side-mounted or base-mounted with a cup and a strap, trolley sleeves are added to the back panel of backpacks and rolling cases, and hydration sleeves with a tube port are available on outdoor-oriented camera backpacks. These additions are drawn into the pattern at sampling, not added afterwards.
Can you print or emboss our logo on the camera bags?
Yes. Available logo methods include silkscreen printing, heat transfer, foil stamping, embossed and debossed leather patches, metal logo plates, woven labels, rubber patches, and full-color digital printing. We can also print your artwork on the interior lining and add a woven brand label inside the lid.
Do you offer private label packaging and Amazon FBA prep?
Yes. Packaging options include branded poly bags, printed retail boxes, hangtags, sleeve bands, dust bags, and multi-piece set boxes. FBA prep covers poly bagging with suffocation warning, FNSKU labeling, carton marking, and shipment-ready packing. Products carry your brand only — no third-party markings on the product, packaging, or carton.
What quality standard applies to bulk camera bag shipments?
Every bulk batch is inspected to AQL 2.5 major / 4.0 minor. Checks cover dimensions against the approved drawing, foam thickness and compression recovery, divider hook-and-loop cycling, zipper cycling, seam pull strength at strap anchors and base panels, stitch density, hardware plating and salt-spray performance, logo registration, color match against the approved lab dip, and packing accuracy. A photo and measurement report is issued with each inspection.
Are your materials REACH and Prop 65 compliant?
We work with REACH-compliant, AZO-free, and phthalate-free materials, and can supply material declarations plus heavy-metal and phthalate screening statements for California Proposition 65 programs. Color fastness and hardware plating reports are available on request for retail and marketplace compliance reviews.
Can you develop a new camera bag design from scratch?
Yes. Send reference images, your gear list, and the price band you need to hit. We return a dimensioned drawing and a foam proposal, then build a sample in 6–10 business days. Pattern development and tooling for molded EVA cases are quoted separately and confirmed before sampling starts.
How do I start a custom camera bag order?
Send your specification — gear list, format, external and internal dimensions, material, foam package, quantity, logo method, and packaging — to [email protected] or WhatsApp +86 17750020688. We quote within 24–48 hours, produce a sample in 6–10 days, and move to bulk production after your written approval.
