What's in the Look Good, Feel Better Beauty Bag? – Junyuan bags

The Look Good, Feel Better beauty bag is offered to all breast cancer patients as part of a workshop that they can go on – either during their treatment or following it.

Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) is a cancer support charity that helps boost the physical and emotional wellbeing of people undergoing cancer treatment.

If you’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer then it’s a good idea to ask at the hospital when the Look Good, Feel Better sessions are running.

Cancer patients undergo a lot of changes during treatment such as skin sensitivity changes – and the obvious hair falling out. The idea behind attending a session is that they bring cancer patients together and introduce them to beauticians and beauty industry professionals to demonstrate the ways of coping with changes and making yourself ‘feel good and look better!

According to the company’s website, more than 1,650 group sessions were held in 2019, led by trained volunteers providing a chance to meet others in a similar situation, as well as learning useful skills and techniques to manage the side-effects of cancer treatment.

My look good, feel better story

I first found out about the course while I was undergoing chemo. It seemed like a great idea and I felt that it would give me the opportunity to meet other patients and prepare for losing my hair.

The workshop, which took place one afternoon, showed me the importance of looking after my skin and how to apply makeup – especially when I’d be losing my eyebrows, eyelashes etc. Sometimes, even just putting some blusher on can perk you up, so it was nice to know how to use the makeup when dealing with no hair and sensitive skin.

At the end of the day we all went home with a new beauty bag full of beauty products. The whole kit was worth more than £300 pounds. And here’s exactly what was included in the beauty kit…

The Look Good, Feel Better beauty bag contained… (with links to my favourite products)

I couldn’t believe how many products we received – it was amazing! Everyone was thrilled with their gift bags and it was lovely of the companies involved to donate products that we could use.

My favourite was the perfume (it smelt divine) and the Rimmel eyeliner pencil as it was a really nice colour and would suit all skin tones and colours. I’ll be using most of the products included in the beauty bag – especially the make-up, but since finishing my cancer treatment, I’ve overhauled my skincare and beauty regime. I now only use products that contain 100% natural ingredients to ensure that I’m not putting any harsh chemicals onto my skin that can be absorbed.

About a year ago I discovered Tropic Skincare – vegan, cruelty-free products that contain naturally derived ingredients and I haven’t looked back since. So much so, that just a couple of weeks ago I decided to become a Tropic Ambassador as I’m passionate about the products and the results I’ve seen. I even have a little shop that you can visit – if you do decide to buy something – please quote my name (Lauretta Wright) when asked if you know an ambassador. And if you have any questions about the skincare or makeup range, I’m more than happy to answer your questions.

And of course if you have any questions relating to cancer treatment (especially for breast cancer) – be it chemotherapy, radiotherapy, adjuvant treatment or lymphedema, ask away and I’ll endeavour to answer any questions!
